Mark launched his career by becoming a mine safety technician. In 1996, a friend of his asked him to help him destroy his old barn, which is when Mark came up with an idea to start his own company, which he named Antique Cabins and Barns – the company has reportedly been doing business well to this day, having changed its name to Barnwood Living in 2016.
In 2013, DIY Network created a show which would follow Mark’s life and his company, and they named it “Barnwood Builders” – the reality TV series also follows five other builders, as they convert historic barns and log cabins into modern houses.
The show’s eight seasons began airing on 7 April 2019. In 2017, the Discovery channel promised Brown and his wife that they would choose nine episodes from the “Barnwood Builders” series, and create an entirely new show which would air on their channel – the first episode aired on 30 June 2018.

The two married on 31 March 2003, and are now parents to a son named Atticus – the family of three is living in their house on their property which they purchased in Greenbrier County. Cindy is known for running for the West Virginia House of delegates – after that, she became a history teacher, and also started teaching children how to play tennis and baseball. Today, she is helping her husband with their family business.
