What are Glazed Carrots?

Glazed Carrots are carrots that have been covered with a buttery sugar glaze to make an amazing side dish. . Carrots are already have a sweet hint to them, so keeping the ingredients simple for the glaze is easy to do.

To make this glaze we used butter, brown sugar and a pinch of salt. That is it and these simple ingredients went really well with the carrots taste.

You can easily add in some soy sauce, honey glaze or maple syrup to sweeten it up. I have even mixed in some orange juice and cinnamon to deepen the flavor. Get creative and use what you have.

Balsamic Vinegar is also a good marinade for the carrots. We love balsamic vinegar and use it for meats and vegetables.

How to Make Glazed Carrots on Blackstone Griddle:

  • Prepare Blackstone Griddle – Preheat the Blackstone griddle over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F).
  • Clean, Peel and Slice Carrots – Peel the carrots and slice the carrots into approximately ½ inch thick slices.

  • Begin Cooking Carrots – Place the carrots on the griddle. Then pour a couple of tablespoons of water on top of the carrots. Cover with a dome lid to steam the carrots.

  • Continue Stirring Carrots – Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes, then slip the carrots and cook for 3-4 more minutes until the carrots are tender.

  • Add the Glaze to Carrots – Top the carrots with butter and then the brown sugar.

How Long to Cook Carrots on Blackstone:

Cooking carrots on the Blackstone doesn’t take long to cook. After preparing the carrots and slicing them, place on the grill. We like to use a cooking dome to hold in the steam to cook the carrots.

After allowing the grilled carrots to cook on each side for about 3 minutes then add the glaze and continue cooking. This side dish cooks in about 15 minutes. Cooking time will vary.

Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots Tips:

  • Cooking Carrots – You can easily make these carrots on the stovetop on a pan if you do not have a Blackstone griddle.You can also roast the carrots.
  • Blackstone Dome – We like to use a dome on the Blackstone at the beginning of cooking the carrots to hold in the steam. This seems to help the carrots cook faster and evenly.
  • Glaze – We like add the glaze to carrots when the carrots are cooked. Add the melted butter and brown sugar directly to the Blackstone and cover the carrots.
  • Slicing Carrots – Slice carrots to about the same size so that they cook evenly and completely.

Variations:

  • Add other ingredients – You can drizzle maple syrup or honey when adding in the brown sugar and butter. Adds so much flavor the carrots.
  • Spicy – You can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to add a bit of spice to your side dish.
  • Change the Vegetable – Instead of using carrots you can use this glaze on other vegetables. Mix it with sweet potatoes for another easy side dish.
