Disney World in Orlando, Florida is known for having immersive theming in its theme parks and resorts. They want you to feel completely separated from daily life when you vacation there and give you the opportunity to live out your favorite Disney stories.
There are even a few types of resort rooms that continue the storyin the actual room you sleep in!
Best Disney World Themed Rooms
Royal Guest Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
Princess Tiana decorated a Princess Room (called Royal Rooms) at Port Orleans Resort with rich colors and stately fabrics. This room is straight out of a fairy tale.
Ornately carved details on the furniture and crown molding make it clear that this is a room fit for royalty. In fact, each of the Disney Princesses, have left behind a little something that reminds you of their story from their prior visits.
The real star here, though, are the headboards that light up with fireflies and fireworks in a scene reminiscent of The Princess and the Frog movie.
Incredibles Rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
One of the newest renovations at Disney World is at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. All of the rooms were renovated with new Incredibles theming. These modern rooms are super cute with little touches from the Incredibles movies. Our favorite is inside the closet (you will find the Incredibles suits hanging).
If you have any Incredibles fans in your family, this is a fun room for your Disney World vacation.
Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
This resort has suites themed after Cars, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo in the suites.
You will feel like you’ve joined Lightning McQueen and his pals on Route 66 from the moment you step into this highly themed resort room, themed after Cars! With a black and white checkered floor, and a garage/tool chest themed living area with traffic cone lamps, you’ll definitely feel as though you are staying at the Cozy Cone in the world of Pixar’s Cars.
We love having a separate bedroom and the ability to sleep up to 6 adults in one room. The pull-down wall bed revealing a snoozing Mater and the “spiffy in a jiffy” quote on the bathroom mirrors always put a smile on our faces.
We love all three of these suite themes. If you have any Ariel fans, there is a whole section themed after The Little Mermaid. This section is focused on standard rooms vs suites.
Copper Creek Cascade Cabins
Copper Creek Cascade Cabins are standalone vacation homes built along the bank of Bay Lake at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge / Copper Creek. There are 26 of these private waterfront quarters—each with a screened-in wrap around porch with a built-in hot tub. These accommodations are uniquely designed to be rustic, yet elegant. They offer the perfect “outdoorsy” adventure while giving you all the comforts of home – actually better than most homes!
These 2-Bedroom/2-Bathroom accommodations can sleep up to 8 Guests in 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed, 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa, 1 Single Pull Down Bed and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair. The cabins are perfectly spacious, but cozy at the same time.
We can’t get enough of the double-sided stone-hearth fireplace and the gigantic shower with rainfall shower head. The wood ceilings and floors give you the feeling of staying in a true-life log cabin. And it’s so peaceful and quiet on the water early in the morning and late at night, the theming of a quiet cabin in the woods become the real thing.
Moana Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Resort has renovated all of the rooms with a new Moana theme. The rooms are very tropical with little touches from the movie, Moana. You may find Hei Hei by the coffee maker or Maui in the wallpaper on the wall. It is a beautiful room with just touches from Moana.
Polynesian Village Bora Bora Bungalows
Disney’s Polynesian Village was one of the original resorts at opening in 1971 and inspired by Walt Disney himself. We aren’t sure if Walt would have ever imagined that the resort would one day have over-the-water bungalows like those found in the South Pacific, but today, you can find these incredible private vacation bungalows along the shore of Seven Sea Lagoon!
Each is a private vacation home with 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed, 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa and 2 Single Pull Down Beds — sleeping up to 8 Adults. Each of the two bedrooms is decorated in a classy, but beachy style with Polynesian touches. We especially love the surfboard headboard and the bathrooms with cool, ocean blue tiles.
The dark woods remind us of Polynesian longboats and the ceiling details make it feel like you are really in a hut in Bora Bora. These bungalows with their own plunge pool, and deck from which you can watch fireworks or the Electrical Water Pageant, provide an escape to paradise with a perfectly themed delivery. It’s a real tropical paradise!
Reflecting on this list, we can’t help but notice there’s quite a variety of themed room styles and choices available at the Walt Disney World Resort. There’s nearly something for everyone!
